Animal Nutrition increases student understanding of animal agriculture, microorganisms, physiology, scientific ethics, and nutrition research. Students are mentored by CSU faculty, staff and undergraduate students as they interact with a steer containing a window in its side, known as a fistulated steer. Observation, microscopic skills, and hands-on activities are used to engage students in discussion about nutrition and the use of animals in research. In addition, students participate in field trips around the Fort Collins area to examine desirable animal facilities.
