Event/Activity Description
Applied Physiology Camp is a hands-on academic day camp for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a strong interest in science and are considering pursuing a career in a health-related field such as medicine, physical or occupational therapy, health and exercise science, or in scientific research. The camp blends exciting concepts in physiology and neurology and gives students the opportunity to uniquely explore how our bodies experience, process, and react to different environments. Lessons and interactive demos throughout the week culminate in a full body sensory and physical challenge at CSU’s Mountain Campus ropes course. Topics covered during the week include sensory systems, neuroanatomy, neuronal signaling, and experimental neurobiology. Program highlights include:
– Handling real neuroanatomy specimens
– Human physiology in response to high altitude, space, and diving environments
– Taste and visual sensory demonstrations
– Guided sensory experiences
– Overnight adventure and ropes course at CSU’s Mountain Campus
Space is limited! Day camp activities take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and culminate in an overnight experience at CSU’s Mountain Campus on Friday night. Camp ends on Saturday morning.
