Karin Wangberg Rogers
Harris Bilingual School
Karin is a first grade teacher at Harris Bilingual School and has worked in Poudre School District with Kindergarten and first grade students for the past 14 years. All of the students Karin works with are all emerging bilinguals: half of her students speak Spanish as their dominant language, half of her students speak English as their dominant language, and all are in the process of learning their second language at Harris. Karin earned a B.A. in English and Anthropology from Colorado College in 2001, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Regis University in 2013. She is passionate about cultivating collaborative skills in her young students; hands-on scientific exploration, she has found, provides opportunities for students to build interpersonal language skills as well as rich scientific and multi-disciplinary vocabulary. Karin is eager to assist researchers in designing proposals that incorporate science learning for elementary school teachers and their students.
