Location: Around Colorado, Colorado State University Campus, Fort Collins, Colorado
Event/Activity Description
The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) program at CSU consists of multiple events each spring semester and typically impacts over 1000 middle and high school students. Volunteers from CSU travel to local schools and provide neuroscience education through interactive, hands-on stations. Topics include sensory systems, neurological diseases, brain trauma and human and animal neuroanatomy. Most volunteers are CSU students so the events also provide younger students with the opportunity to interact and talk to college students. The BAW director works closely with science teachers from each school to provide the best experience possible. Volunteers are needed to help with the program each year and local schools are invited to inquire about having events.
